Sussex Mediation House

We believe passionately that mediation offers a kinder and more constructive way for families to separate.   The court system, with expensive solicitors and extremely long waits, is broken and in many cases makes conflict worse and provides only partial solutions.  In most cases matters can be resolved much faster, more cost effectively and more constructively in just weeks through mediation.  What's more, you will feel supported and encouraged to work collaboratively, rather than being encouraged to battle.

Our trained FMC mediators understand how to guide you to find solutions, balancing the law, your finances and your unique needs.

69% of mediation cases end in complete agreement with no need for contested court.  Other cases end with at least partial agreement and a working solution while you wait for the remaining issues to be reviewed in court.

We have local knowledge and are rigorously trained to FMC and FMA standards.   We work with local courts, solicitors, financial advisors and a network of experts to ensure you have the right support to develop your plans for the future.

Mission

To help families lay the foundation for the next chapter of their lives, with empathy and collaboration - all in a reasonable time frame and budget.

Values

01

Empathy, Kindness & Confidentiality

Our mediators will listen carefully to what you say and be guided by your needs.  Mediation is collaborative, not adversarial, and you will feel supported. If children are involved, we will ensure their needs are carefully considered throughout the process.

Everything you say is confidential, unless there are concerns for safety.  You can discuss anything that matters to you and you will be treated with complete respect and dignity.

03

Save you from court!

We'll use our knowledge of divorce and separation, the law and our negotiation skills to help guide you to find solutions and agreements.  We will help with complicated financial disclosures and challenging child arrangements.  We want to save you from court, so we will keep the discussions constructive and if you get stuck we will look at all angles and reality test suggestions to help move you forward.

02

Fair Pricing

Mediation should not cost as much as a solicitor.  Mediators are NOT ALLOWED to give legal advice, so please don't pay exhorbitant fees.

Our specialist mediators are registered with the FMA and FMC and fully insured - this means we have the knowledge and skills required to guide you through divorce and separation.  We can keep our costs low because we are independent and don't have the overheads of a large law firm.

Most cases are settled without needing to go to court and for less than £1000 per person.

04

Local Knowledge

We know the local courts, solicitors, financial advisors, mortgage brokers, estate agents, social services, schools, counselling services, shelters - we have a whole local network at our fingertips to support you.

We care about local families.
